Waterheaterhistory.com
Last updated: September 3, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of waterheaterhistory.com (the “Site”). The Site is operated by Baysinger, LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”).
By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. What this site is
Waterheaterhistory.com is an independent educational resource on the history and technology of domestic and commercial water heating. Articles, timelines, glossaries, photographs, and related materials are for learning and research.
The Site is not a contractor, manufacturer, retailer, or installer. A company listing, logo, or Heritage Partner placement is not a rating, inspection, or endorsement of that company’s work.
2. No professional advice
Nothing on the Site is plumbing, engineering, medical, legal, or other professional advice.
That includes pages on temperature settings, Legionella and other bacteria, codes, venting, filtration, and safety. Historical systems are described so you can understand how they developed. Do not copy them as a modern installation or safety plan.
If you need work done, hire a licensed professional and follow current codes. If you need medical advice, talk to a clinician.
Use of the Site is at your own risk.
3. Accuracy
We work from patents, engineering literature, manufacturer records, museum collections, surviving equipment, and other sources. History gets revised when better evidence shows up. We do not warrant that every date, credit, specification, or photograph is complete, current, or free of error.
If you find a problem, use the contact page and include sources.
4. What you may do
You may:
-
Read the Site
-
Download or print pages for personal, non-commercial use
-
Quote brief excerpts for non-commercial education or research, with attribution: page title, “Waterheaterhistory.com,” and a link to the original URL
Classroom use and citation in papers are welcome under those rules.
5. What you may not do
You may not:
-
Copy, scrape, or systematically download substantial portions of the Site
-
Republish Site content on another website, in a book, in a course, or on social media without prior written permission, except for brief attributed excerpts
-
Use Site content for advertising, product listings, or other commercial purposes without permission
-
Remove copyright, trademark, or credit notices
-
Alter text or images so they misrepresent the source or meaning
-
Use our name or logo to imply we rate, certify, or endorse you, except as allowed under a current partner agreement
-
Attempt to break, overload, or interfere with the Site
-
Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
All rights not granted here are reserved.
6. Intellectual property
Original text, organization, design, logos, and compilation of the Site are protected by copyright and owned by Baysinger, LLC or its licensors, unless a page says otherwise.
Some images come from patents, catalogs, museums, Heritage Partners, or equipment documented in the field. Those items remain the property of their owners or stay in the public domain, as the case may be. A photograph on the Site does not transfer the copyright in the object or the image.
Brand names on the Site — Ruud, Rheem, Bradford White, Navien, Rinnai, Noritz, American Standard, and others — are trademarks of their owners. We use them to identify historical and current products, not to claim any affiliation unless a partner listing says so.
For alleged copyright infringement, follow the DMCA process on the Legal Notice page. Notices: info@waterheaterhistory.com.
7. Partner listings, supporters, and logos
Paid or contributed listings, supporter credits, and Heritage Partner logos are advertising or acknowledgment space. They do not mean we inspected the company, verified its work, or recommend a product.
If you have reciprocal-logo rights under a current partner level:
-
Use only the file we send
-
Do not change the colors
-
Link our logo to https://www.waterheaterhistory.com
-
Do not put it on a truck wrap, product, or coupon
-
Do not say we rate or endorse your work
Partner terms on the Heritage Partner page also apply. If those terms conflict with a signed agreement, the signed agreement controls for that partner.
8. User submissions
If you send comments, photos, documents, or other material through the contact form or by email, you confirm that you have the right to send it and that it does not infringe someone else’s rights.
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, archive, edit, and display that material on the Site and in related research, with credit where we reasonably can. We may decline or remove submissions.
Do not send confidential business information unless we have agreed in writing to receive it.
9. Third-party links
Links to other sites are for reference. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
10. Availability
We try to keep the Site up. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free pages, or that the Site is free of viruses or other harmful code. Access may stop for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Baysinger, LLC, Sid Baysinger, contributors, and licensors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Site or from reliance on its content — even if we were told such damages were possible.
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Some states do not allow certain limitations. If those rules apply to you, some of the above may not apply.
12. Indemnity
If your use of the Site, your submissions, or your misuse of our name or content causes a claim against us, you agree to defend and indemnify Baysinger, LLC and its operators against that claim, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent allowed by law.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after a post means you accept the new Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Arizona.
