HELP KEEP THE HISTORY OF HOT
WATER IN PUBLIC VIEW

People come here for information they can trust. Most water-heater history online is short, incomplete, or inconsistent — the inventors, the dates, and how the machines actually worked. This site exists to fix that.

Articles are built from patents, engineering writing from the period, museum collections, manufacturer records, and photographs of equipment documented in the field. The same standard applies to newer systems. Tankless units, glass-lined storage tanks, solar collectors, and heat-pump water heaters are described as they actually developed, not as advertising copy.

The site is open to researchers, students, people in the trade, and anyone who wants a sourced account of how hot water reached the house. New research, patent studies, illustrated articles, and gallery images are added once they have been checked.

Why Partner With Waterheaterhistory.com?

People look this site up on purpose. They come for accurate, researched history of water heating — and many of them are also looking for the newest equipment available now.

A listing on waterheaterhistory.com gives you:

  • Visibility with people who already care. Researchers, people in the trade, students, homeowners, and enthusiasts who are already reading about water-heating technology.

  • A link to a trusted educational site that uses original sources and corrects errors that get copied around the web.

  • A quality backlink from a specialized, content-rich domain.

  • Reciprocal linking (Industry Partner level and above), so you can put our logo on your own site.

  • A place next to documented history while still reaching readers who are shopping for modern systems.

In short, your logo sits in front of people already searching for the work your company does.

Old photos, catalog pages, nameplates, shop records, drawings, or a short note with a date. Review is free. A current sales page is not enough.

If a file is used, your name can go in the source line. Uploading a file does not create a listing by itself. If you also want to be listed, pick a level on this page.

This is a source credit, not an ad.

You send $100 and one real piece of history — a photo, catalog page, nameplate, or a correction with a source. Your name, organization, and logo go on the Contributors page for 12 months, with a link to your site.

If the site uses what you sent, your name goes on that published article or photo too.

Where the links go

  • On our site: your name, organization, and logo on the Contributors page, linked to your site

  • On the published article or photo: your name and organization, with a link back to your Contributors listing

  • On your Contributors listing: a link to the published piece if your file is used

What $100 actually buys

  • A named place on the Contributors page for 12 months

Become an Industry Partner

$500 · Logo, link, and a short writeup

This is for manufacturers, trade groups, utilities, museums, and archives that want a named place on the site.

It is a credit. It is not a product sheet and not an endorsement of what you sell now.

You send $500. The site writes a short industry writeup from the form you fill out — about 180–280 words. Your logo, company name, and domain go on the Industry Partners page for 12 months, with a link to your site.

Renewing later keeps the listing current.

The two-way link

  • On our site: your company logo or name, plus your domain, with a link to your homepage or history page

  • On your site: approval to put the Water Heater History logo on your website, with a link back to waterheaterhistory.com, plus the line “Industry Partner of Water Heater History”

  • We email you our logo with your receipt so you can post it the day the listing goes live

  • Use our logo only while the listing is live. Don’t change the colors. Don’t put it on a product. Don’t say we rate or endorse your equipment.

Where you show up

  • Industry Partners page — logo, company name, and domain, linked to your site

  • A short sourced writeup on that same page

  • Optional on your site: our logo + “Industry Partner of Water Heater History,” linked back to us

What $500 actually buys

  • Your logo, company name, and domain on the Industry Partners page for 12 months, linked to your homepage or history page

  • A sourced industry writeup, about 180–280 words, written by the site from your form. You don’t write it. You can check names and dates.

  • Review of up to three historic files (catalog pages, drawings, plant photos, handbooks)

  • Your organization named in the source line if a file is used

  • Approval to put our logo on your site, with a link back to us

  • A named place on a public history site that people already use for water-heater research

  • Listing live in 7 days

  • Writeup delivered within 30 days

  • Listed for 12 months

  • Renewable at $500

Needed to start

  • $500

  • Your logo file (PNG or SVG) and the exact URL that logo should open

  • A review of current products

  • Control of any other article

  • Prices, slogans, or “call today”

  • The 900–1,100 word Heritage article. That is a different listing.

Example:

Become a Heritage Partner

$1,000 · Your company or family, written as history

Inventors get named. Shops and families usually don’t.

You send $1,000 and one real piece of history — an old photo, a catalog, a nameplate, a shop record, or a correction with a source. The site writes one researched article about what your company or family actually did in water heating. Your name, city, year, and logo go on the Heritage Partners page for 24 months, with a link to your site.

The $1,000 keeps the site public. The source is what earns the article.

Renewing later keeps the listing current. It does not get you a second article.

The two-way link

  • On our site: your company logo or name goes on the Heritage Partners page, with a link to your homepage or history page

  • On your site: you get approval to put the Water Heater History logo on your website, with a link back to waterheaterhistory.com, plus the line “Heritage Partner of Water Heater History”

  • We email you our logo with your receipt so you can post it the day the listing goes live

  • Use our logo only while your listing is live. Don’t change the colors. Don’t put it on a truck or a product. Don’t say we rate or endorse your work.

Where you show up

  • Heritage Partners page — your name, city, year, and logo, linked to your site

  • One dedicated article in the site history, about 900–1,100 words, researched and written once

  • One historic photo with that article

  • Optional on your site: our logo + “Heritage Partner of Water Heater History,” linked back to us

What $1,000 actually buys

  • A 900–1,100 word history article you don’t have to write. The site researches it and writes it. You can check names and dates

  • That article lives in the site history. It is not a product page and not a directory blurb

  • One historic organization or family photo published with the article

  • Your company logo or name on this site for 24 months, with a link to your site

  • Approval to put our logo on your site, with a link back to us

  • A named place on a public history site that people already use for water-heater research — trade readers, students, homeowners, and collectors

  • Review of the old files you send (photos of old units, catalogs, nameplates, shop records)

  • Your name in the source line if a file is used

  • Listing live in 7 days

  • Article delivered within 30 days

  • Listed for 24 months

  • Renewable at $1,000 — that updates the listing, not the article

Needed to start

  • $1,000

  • At least one real source: a photo, catalog, nameplate, shop record, or a correction with a source

  • Your logo file (PNG or SVG) and the exact URL that logo should open

What this is not

  • A banner across the site

  • A ranking or “best of” label

  • A review of current products or services

  • Control of any other article

  • Prices, phone numbers, or “call today”
